HAV Design AS to optimise nesting & streamline shipyard production workflow

HAV Design AS is an international provider of technology and services for maritime and marine industry from Norway, with a focus on design and construction of advanced vessels for fishing, fish farming, transport, offshore wind power production and offshore oil production, for shipyards and shipowners worldwide. HAV Design, an international technology provider for marine industry

HAV Design is a supplier of innovative ship design, pioneering the design and construction of zero and low-emission vessels. HAV Group’s subsidiary HAV Design has a track record of more than 100 ship designs as zero-emissions ferries, windfarm service vessels or cargo vessel design.

The challenge: optimize nesting and production flow

“HAV Design recently introduced Cadmatic software for preparing shipbuilding documentation. Cadmatic software does not contain nesting tool needed for preparing CNC files for our final shipyard customer.

In addition, we had other needs regarding production documents. Our customer has home-made templates and they need CNC files and bills of materials to be organized with a personalized layout.”

Doing nothing was not an option: CNC files must be provided to the shipyard. Without it, parts produced in Cadmatic can not be manufactured.

The solution : Almacam with extensive customization

Based on the recommendations of Cadmatic and the price range, HAV Design has chosen Almacam software to meet its needs.  The Alma team of shipyard experts has made additional developments so that HAV Design can manage the production documents as requested. The final implementation at HAV was made at automn 2023.

The results: Maximized nesting and workflow efficiency

Now, we are able to provide CNC files to our customer (shipyard) properly. The efficient nesting of Almacam enables our customer to save material raws. Globally, we had streamlined and automated the production processes and implement a sustainable workflow.
